Off-track betting operator Sportech Venues revealed Tuesday that former Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine is a partner in a new 300-seat restaurant being built at the company’s Windsor Locks venue adjacent to Bradley International Airport.
Valentine, a Stamford native who is currently the athletic director at Sacred Heart University, has restaurant experience, owns Bobby V’s Sports Bar in Stamford, which is one of seven restaurants he has been involved in since retiring from a career as a major leaguer.
Valentine coached the Red Sox for the 2012 season, in which the team posted a losing record of 69-93.
The announcement comes days after the New Haven-based Sportech, which owns 15 venues in Connecticut, announced the expanded Bradley Teletheaterwould reopen in January, a part of a $10 million investment across the state.
The company expects to have 370 employees in the state after the renovations are complete.
