West Hartford accounting-consulting firm BlumShapiro has penetrated deeper into New England with its merger of accounting, tax and business consulting firm Needel, Welch & Stone, P.C. of Rockland, Mass.
The deal for unspecified financial terms was effective Jan. 1.
Needel Welch, with 30 employees, opened its one Massachusetts office in 1964 from which it serves clients in the Boston area, the South Shore and Cape Cod.
Needel Welch will identify itself for a brief period as a division of BlumShapiro, before formally adopting its parent’s logo, said BlumShapiro marketing chief Thomas Devitto.
BlumShapiro’s other Connecticut offices are in Shelton and Westport. With the merger, it has some 300 employees.
