He’s no longer in the Top 10 in Congress, but U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal still holds the distinction of being the wealthiest member of the state’s congressional delegation. The same research finds a Connecticut company is the most popular investment option among congresspeople.
In 2014, Blumenthal was the 11th wealthiest member of Congress. His estimated wealth stands at between $81.7 million for 2014. It was $99.5 million in 2013, according to research by the Center for Responsive Politics.
That same research also found that General Electric is the most popular stock holding in Congress. Sixty-four members are invested for a total of between $2.4 million to $6 million. Members of Congress only have to report their investments in a range, which is why an exact amount isn’t available.
Here is the net worth of the other members of the Connecticut delegation, according to the research. Their overall ranking in Congress is followed by their 2014 estimated wealth and then their 2013 estimated wealth.
