Gov. M. Jodi Rell has appointed Peter Blum of West Hartford to a five-year term as a member of the state Board of Mediation and Arbitration.
The board arbitrates disputes between employers and employees, not including disputes between teachers and city boards of education. His term expires Sept. 30, 2015.
A labor arbitrator for more than 30 years, Blum chaired the board from 1992 through 1998. He has served as an alternate member of the panel for the past three years.
Blum chairs the Connecticut Employees Retirement Commission and serves as a mediator for the Department of Education. He earned a law degree from Boston College Law School and a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University.
