Bloomfield’s LiquidPiston doubles HQ size, hires new technology specialist

LiquidPiston Inc., which makes rotary combustion engines, announced it doubled the size of it’s Bloomfield facility to 12,000 square feet to enable growth of its defense and aerospace business.

The expanded headquarters — which was previously 6,000 square feet — doubles the number of offices, workspaces and assembly areas, the company said.

“[The expansion] underscores LiquidPiston’s focus on product development, as it looks to commercialize its new engine technology,” LiquidPiston said.

The company, which employs 19 people, also announced it hired Jake Zuehl as its technology specialist charged with  scaling up the design, development and testing of LiquidPiston rotary engines, the LiquidPiston CEO Alexander Shkolnik said.

“Under Jake’s leadership and direction, we look forward to seeing our engine technology being used across the aerospace, defense and commercial sectors,” Shkolnik said of Zuehl, who previously worked for Wisconsin-based small engine and lawn mower parts maker Briggs & Stratton Corp.
