Bloomfield manufacturer Kaman Corp. says its aerospace segment received a $48.6 million bomb fuze order from the U.S. Air Force (USAF).
Kaman announced Thursday the batch of joint programmable fuzes (JPF) will be produced in Middletown and Orlando, Fla.
With the sale, the manufacturer has recorded more than $540 million in JPF sales over the last year, further solidifying its place as the sole provider of joint fuzes to the Air Force since 2002.
“This order continues to demonstrate the importance that allied foreign militaries place on the advanced capabilities, mission flexibility and and high reliability of the JPF,” Kaman Aerospace Group President Richard Barnhart said.
The JPF are used to arm U.S. and allied warplane bombloads, and are deployed with several weapons such as general purpose bombs and guided bombs on a variety of domestic and international aircrafts.
