Building design and construction firm Solidus Inc. has moved its headquarters from Bloomfield to East Hartford, where it now occupies a redeveloped former banquet facility and elementary school on Main Street.
Solidus, a general contracting firm specializing in architectural design, construction and branding services, on Thursday debuted its newly minted headquarters, at 1450 Main St., that it spent the last seven or so months renovating for more than $250,000.
The company, which typically serves clients including community banks and credit unions, acquired the 8,800-square-foot, two-story brick building for $352,000 in January.

According to Solidus, the facility now features modern office amenities, an open floor plan and several meeting spaces.
Built in 1909, the historic building was originally used as the former Second North Elementary School until it closed in the late 1970s. In the late 1990s, the town partnered with the owners of Tastebuds Banquet & Catering to transform the school that had been vacant for some two decades. The banquet hall and catering center operated at the Main Street site until it closed in June 2019.
Established about 40 years ago, Solidus says it has roughly 30 employees working on projects across New England, New York and New Jersey. The company was previously headquartered at 1280 Blue Hills Ave. in Bloomfield.
