Connecticut-based fried chicken chain Birdcode continues its expansion in the state, with its seventh location set to open Friday in Plainville.
The fast-casual restaurant will open 359 New Britain Ave., in a shopping plaza that also includes Doro Marketplace, Jersey Mike’s Subs and cannabis shop Shangri-La.
The opening comes about four months after Birdcode opened its sixth Connecticut restaurant, in Brookfield.
The Plainville restaurant is franchised by Fran McCormack and Paul Brault, two Connecticut multi-unit restaurant operators who opened their first Jersey Mike’s Subs franchise in 2020.
The pair now operate five Jersey Mike’s locations in Bristol, Watertown, Cheshire, Plainville and Kensington. They also own the Lobster Tales food truck and Bart’s restaurant in Windsor. The Plainville restaurant is their first Birdcode franchise.
Founded in 2020 by Phil and Brandi Killoran, Birdcode specializes in made-to-order crispy chicken.
Danielle Carey, who has worked with McCormack and Brault for seven years, will serve as operator.
In addition to its seven Connecticut locations, Birdcode said it plans to open two restaurants in Massachusetts later this year.
