Bioscience group recognizes healthtech entrepreneur

BioCT, a statewide bioscience industry group, named Eric Schadt its 2020 entrepreneur of the year, recognizing the growth of Sema4, his health intelligence company.

Sema4, based in Stamford, recently opened a second lab at its headquarters this year and also operates a lab in Branford, employing a total of 500 people in Connecticut. The company uses artificial intelligence to build predictive models of human health for patients in the areas of women’s health and oncology, along with offering genomic health screening and modeling.

Sema4 partnered with the state this year to provide large-scale COVID-19 testing.

BioCT and the law firm of Shipman & Goodwin LLP established the Entrepreneur of the Year award to acknowledge Connecticut entrepreneurs who are having an impact beyond the borders of the state.
