Bimbo Bakeries USA will close three Connecticut outlet locations in Orange, Cromwell and Naugatuck, company officials said
Bimbo Bakeries USA is an affiliate of Grupo Bimbo, a baking company with operations in 34 countries.
The company makes products for Entenmann’s, Freihofer’s, Sara Lee, and Thomas’ breads.
The company said “after careful analysis and consideration, we made the difficult decision to permanently close 28 of our outlet stores, throughout the East region.”
They said company processes have shifted and products will be redistributed to other locations, which were not disclosed.
According to the company website, Bimbo has more than 20,000 associates who work in bakeries, sales centers, offices and on sales routes. The company did not say how many jobs the closures would affect, but added it is taking steps to help ease them through this transition.
The company said it will donate any extra products to local food bank partners.
