The state Senate voted to reappoint John W. “Jack” Betkoski III as a commissioner with the state Public Utilities Regulatory Authority, the agency that oversees the rates and services of Connecticut’s investor-owned electricity, natural gas, water and telecommunications companies.
The unanimous vote, which followed a similarly favorable decision from the state House of Representatives, extends Betkoski’s term to June 30, 2023. According to PURA officials, he will begin his 25th year with the agency on July 1, making him the third-longest-serving utilities commissioner in the country.
Betkoski, a Beacon Falls resident, also serves as chairman of the Connecticut Water Planning Council.
