Bethel’s 122-acre Blue Jay Orchards exchanges hands for $4.1M

Blue Jay Orchards, a 122-acre orchard in Bethel, has sold for $4.1 million, according to brokers who represented the seller.

Mille Mele LLC, controlled by Alex Covino of Ridgefield, and Ursula Covino, of New York, bought the property at 125 Plumtrees Road, said Mick Consalvo and Michael Dimyan, vice presidents with Tower Realty Corp.

Alex and Ursula Covino, who own Hardscrabble Farm in North Salem, New York, did not immediately return an email seeking comment.

Consalvo said the buyers plan to continue operating Blue Jay Orchards at the site.

The seller is Plumtrees Road LLC, which is controlled by Paul S. Patterson, trustee of the Revocable Deed of Trust of Paul S. Patterson, dated July 31, 2020. Paul Patterson Jr. of Pennsylvania sold the property because his father, Paul Patterson, died in 2024 and the family was not “in a position to continue running it,” Consalvo said. An email to Paul Patterson Jr. was not immediately returned.

The Patterson family has owned the property since 1985, according to the orchard’s website. It contains several buildings, including a two-family house, a single-family home, a retail store, a storage barn and an apartment building.

The property, which went on the market in August for $3.8 million, is appraised at $2.41 million and assessed at $1.68 million, property records show.
