Bethel zoning officials are scheduled to hear plans Monday night for an 18-unit apartment complex proposed for adjoining properties on Greenwood Avenue.
The project, planned for 67 and 69 Greenwood Ave., would be developed by 67 Greenwood Property LLC and 69 Greenwood Property LLC, both controlled by Fujo LLC. State records list Thomas and Jennifer Tunnard of Danbury as Fujo’s principals.
Developers plan to demolish an existing two-family residence at 67 Greenwood Ave. and a four-unit building at 69 Greenwood Ave. to make way for three new buildings containing a total of 18 one-bedroom apartments, according to plans filed with the town.
Thomas Tunnard said he has repaired the two houses, which are both well over 100 years old, continuously for seven years, but their floors are shifting and the wiring and plumbing “have run their course,” he said.
“I plan on transitioning this property to my children, keeping it in the family indefinitely,” he told the Hartford Business Journal. “I feel the best way to do that is to put in new, state-of-the-art buildings that I and the town can be proud of.”
Four of the units would be designated as affordable housing for residents earning up to 80% of the state median income, in accordance with Bethel’s transit-oriented district zoning regulations.
