Berlin medical-implant manufacturer TOMZ Corp. is opening a 60,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Indiana.
TOMZ will use the new location, which sits on 18 acres, to increase the volume it can produce and possibly expand its capabilities after expanding its 150,000-square-foot Berlin headquarters several times, the company said.
“After eight expansions of the Berlin facility, with the most recent completed in the summer of 2020, the addition of the Indiana facility will create key redundancies and greatly increase capacity,” TOMZ said.
The new facility will be located in Knightstown, Indiana, about 120 miles outside Warsaw, Indiana, which is known as the “Orthopedic Capitol of the World,” TOMZ said. Establishing a location there allows TOMZ to join many of its peers in orthopedics, the company said.
Earlier this year Berlin’s Planning and Zoning Commission approved TOMZ’s plans to expand its headquarters by about 57,000 square feet.
