Berkshire Bank promotes Marotta, Gray

 Massachusetts regional lender Berkshire Hills Bancorp Inc., with operations in Connecticut, named a new president and a new operations chief, among other promotions, at its flagship bank.

Richard Marotta was elevated to president of Berkshire Bank, of Pittsfield, Mass., and Sean Gray to chief operating officer. All the promotions are effective immediately, the bank said.

In addition, George Bacigalupo, Josephine Iannelli, and Linda Johnston were promoted to senior vice president. Berkshire Bank promoted eight others to its executive team.

Marotta, Gray and Iannelli also were named senior executive vice Presidents at parent Berkshire Hills Bancorp.

“Richard and Sean are results driven, high integrity leaders that have been integral to the growth of this company and this promotion reflects their contributions,’’ Michael Daly, CEO of the holding company and Berkshire Bank, said in a statement.

In it, Daly said that Berkshire expects to post double-digit annualized loan growth and core earnings per share of 52 cents when it closes its books on the third quarter.

Marotta will be responsible for all aspects of the bank’s administration, risk, and infrastructure, including people and systems, compliance and credit. He has been executive vice president, chief risk and administrative officer since 2013. Marotta joined Berkshire in 2010 from KeyBank, where he was executive vice president.

Gray was executive vice president, overseeing retail banking, since 2010. He joined Berkshire in 2006 from Bank of America.
