The Village for Families & Children of Hartford and Waterbury-based Wellmore announced this week they have completed their previously announced merger, creating one of Connecticut’s largest behavioral health providers.
The combined nonprofit organization said it now serves more than 30,000 people annually in more than 100 Connecticut cities and towns and employs nearly 1,000 people.
Hartford-based The Village President and CEO Hector Glynn will continue in that role, while former Wellmore President and CEO Gary Steck has become chief impact officer.
The organizations said the merger will expand access to behavioral health services for children, adults and families, while strengthening coordination between two of Connecticut’s three youth mental health urgent crisis centers, which are operated separately by the two organizations.
Combined, the nonprofits provide services including early childhood education, home-based counseling, substance use prevention and recovery programs, and clinic-based and mobile crisis services for youth.
Wellmore, founded in 1951, serves about 10,000 clients annually across 43 western Connecticut communities. The Village, founded more than 200 years ago, serves about 20,000 families annually in more than 80 towns.
According to their most recent IRS filings, The Village reported $62.5 million in revenue, a $4.4 million operating surplus, $169 million in assets and 810 employees for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025. Wellmore, in its latest available filing, reported $20.6 million in revenue, a $656,257 operating surplus, $16.3 million in assets and 320 employees for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2023.
