A Massachusetts company announced the opening of its second Connecticut restaurant — the German-themed Wurst Haus — in West Hartford Center.
Springfield-based Bean Restaurant Group, operator of the Student Prince and other Western Mass eateries, officially opened its second location of Wurst Haus on Wednesday at 37 LaSalle Road in West Hartford.
“We want to build community and know the restaurant will offer a fun, relaxed atmosphere where people can come together to dine and raise a boot of beer,” said Bean Group co-owner Andy Yee.
Wurst Haus features Bavarian-style food and a wide selection of German beers. The concept was launched as a food hall in 2017 at The Big E. Bean opened the first brick-and-mortar Wurst Haus in Northampton in 2020 with partner Peter Picknelly, chairman and CEO of regional carrier Peter Pan Bus Lines.
Other Bean Restaurant Group restaurants in Massachusetts include Johnny’s Bar & Grill, the Halfway House Lounge, the Boathouse and IYa Sushi & Noodle Kitchen in South Hadley; Johnny’s Tavern and IYa Sushi Bar & Noodle Kitchen in Amherst; Johnny’s Roadside Diner in Hadley, and the White Hut in West Springfield.
The group’s first Connecticut restaurant, West Hartford’s Union Kitchen, opened in late 2018.
