Plans are in the works to open a baseball training facility in Hartford’s South End.
In an application for a sign permit submitted to the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission last month, South Windsor resident Martin Fiori wrote that the indoor complex will include batting cages, offices, class rooms and conference rooms for meetings. Fiori said the facility would be known as the “CT Capitals Baseball Academy.”
It was not immediately clear if the planned academy is connected to the Connecticut Capitals Baseball Organization, a travel baseball club also based in Hartford.
Fiori’s application lists 400 Ledyard St. as the prospective site of the new venture. The property is in a mainly industrial area off of Wethersfield Avenue.
According to city property records, the site is currently occupied by a single-story warehouse.
Dan Sullivan, who uses an address in West Hartford, owns the property through 386-400 Ledyard Street LLC.
Neither Fiori nor Sullivan could immediately be reached for comment Wednesday morning.
The Hartford Planning and Zoning Commission is expected to discuss a special permit for the property at a meeting on Nov. 23.
