Barnes Group acquires Priamus

Bristol-based Barnes Group has acquired Priamus, a Swiss company that specializes in the development of advanced process control systems for the plastic injection molding industry. Terms of the purchase weren’t released.

According to the announcement from Barnes, Priamus services plastic injection molders in the medical, automotive, consumer goods, electronics, and packaging markets. The business, which has approximately 40 employees, is headquartered in Schaffhausen, Switzerland and has direct sales and service offices in the United States and Germany.

“We believe the combination of Priamus’ innovative suite of sensor and process control systems and Barnes Group’s portfolio of plastic injection molding solutions will enable us to create something truly unique and expand what’s possible in injection molding,” said Scott A. Mayo, senior vice president of Barnes Group Inc. and president, Barnes Industrial, in a news release.

Barnes Group provides complete tool-based products for all types of injection molding applications. Priamus will operate as a business within Barnes Group’sindustrial segment, which includes technology-based businesses Synventive Molding Solutions, Männer, and recently acquired Thermoplay.

In 2014, Barnes Group generated net sales of $1.3 billion, up 16 percent from 2013. Income from continuing operations was $120.5 million, a $48.2 million increase from 2013.
