Barnes Aerospace has acquired the East Hartford Operations (EHO) division of ATI Forged Products, a Texas-based manufacturer.
EHO specializes in the machining of flight-safety-critical rotating hardware, including rotor hubs, rotorcraft components and jet engine discs, serving both commercial and defense aerospace customers. It is a certified supplier for both Pratt & Whitney and Sikorsky Aircraft.
Barnes Aerospace is a division of the Barnes Group, the formerly Bristol-based manufacturer that was
sold to private equity firm Apollo Global Management in January. It makes and services complex aero engine components for major original equipment manufacturers.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Barnes says that the deal for EHO will add more than 80 employees to Barnes Aerospace, which is based in East Granby.
“With the addition of EHO, we are well-positioned to strengthen our presence in critical aerospace product and market segments, broaden our reach into the defense market, and enhance our capabilities in rotorcraft components,” said Barnes Aerospace CEO George Whittier.
Whittier, who joined Barnes Aerospace in May, says the acquisition aligns with the company’s growth priorities.
