Bank of America says it’s closing one of its two East Hartford branches early next year.
Spokesman T.J. Crawford said in an email Friday the bank’s branch at 303 Ellington Road will close next Feb. 6.
B of A’s branch about two miles away, at 805 Main St., will remain open, Crawford said.
Crawford cited a decline in customer transactions at the branch, as customers increasingly rely on other channels such as mobile and online banking.
The spokesman declined to disclose the closing branch’s employee headcount, but said B of A typically offers employees various forms of outplacement assistance, including helping them find jobs within the bank. The nation’s largest bank has 143 branches in Connecticut.
