A nonprofit electricity purchasing consortium that’s made recent inroads in Connecticut has picked the supplier for its latest contract — worth $300 million over four years.
PowerOptions said this week that it has selected third-party electricity supplier Constellation, which is based in Baltimore, Maryland, and also operates in Connecticut’s supplier market as well as those in other states.
PowerOptions recently added the Hartford-based San Juan Center to its membership of nearly 500 nonprofits. San Juan joined four other Connecticut members, including The Village for Families and Children.
PowerOptions picked Constellation in a competitive bidding process. The consortium has been contracted with Texas-based Direct Energy for over a decade. The new arrangement with Constellation will begin in 2019.
