Babies ‘R’ Us, a retail chain specializing in baby products and gear for infants and young children, is set to return to Connecticut this year, with three new locations planned inside Kohl’s stores in Norwalk, Manchester and Plainville.
They will be the first Babies ‘R’ Us stores in Connecticut since the chain’s closure. Babies ‘R’ Us filed for bankruptcy and closed all of its stores nationwide in 2018.
The new Connecticut stores will be at: 155 Tolland Turnpike, Manchester; 200 New Britain Ave., Plainville; and 500 Connecticut Ave., Norwalk.
In 2021, brand management firm WHP Global acquired Tru Kids, the parent company of Babies ‘R’ Us and Toys ‘R’ Us. It has employed a similar strategy to revive the Toys ‘R’ Us brand, opening stores within Macy’s department stores nationwide.
WHP Global relaunched Babies ‘R’ Us with a new flagship store that opened in July 2023 at the American Dream mall in New Jersey.
In March 2024, WHP announced a partnership with Kohl’s to open about 200 Babies ‘R’ Us shops inside Kohl’s stores starting this fall.
