Rocky Hill-based Axsys Technologies Inc., a developer of surveillance cameras and imaging systems, has received a $16.9 million follow-on order to produce dual-field-of-view infrared lenses as part of the U.S. Army’s common remotely operated weapon station program.
The majority of this order is expected to ship in 2009.
The initial contract allows for additional quantities to be ordered through August 2012. If all of the options are exercised, the total contract value could be $87 million.
“Superior surveillance and targeting capabilities are critical for success on the battlefield,” Scott B. Conner, president and chief operating officer of Axsys Technologies, said in a statement. “We are proud to be the provider of enabling infrared technology for CROWS, one of the U.S. Army’s most important force protection programs.”
