Wendy Avery, owner of Wendy Avery Design in West Hartford, was recently elected president of the board of trustees for Watkinson School, a co-ed independent day school for grades 6-12 in Hartford. Avery worked in graphic design and marketing in London and Seattle before coming to West Hartford.
Watkinson School also announced the election of new officers: Kathleen Kane-Francalangia, vice president of the board; Marcus Harwood, a partner in BlumShapiro’s accounting and auditing, healthcare services and educational institutions groups, treasurer; and Dr. Laura Dake Roche, an optometrist, was elected secretary.
New trustees are: Paul Gossling, CEO of Origin Point Brands, a supplier of retail wire, steel and aluminum; Doe Hentschel, vice president of Leadership Greater Hartford; Janice Klein, a volunteer for The Village for Families and Children and the West End Civic Association; and Anthony Nwachukwu, founding member and current president of Innovate 1 Services Inc., a global provider of passport and visa application processing and payment services, and founding member and current executive director of SW Global Ltd., a World Bank funded indigenous technology company in Africa with a focus on biometric and border control solutions.
