A slate of new nonstop flights from New Haven’s Tweed airport will be announced at a press event on Thursday morning, airport officials said Wednesday.
Avelo Airlines, the startup carrier offering the flights, has pledged to make Tweed its East Coast hub and launch a $100 million renovation of the airport, which straddles New Haven and East Haven.
Flights are set to begin from New Haven this fall, even as local politicians have questioned the proposed renovation.
Avelo recently announced an expansion of its scheduled flights from its West Coast hub, Burbank Airport near Los Angeles.
