AT&T’s first-half Hartford area upgrades near $130M

Telecommunications giant AT&T says it invested nearly $130 million to upgrade its Hartford area wireless and wired networks.

AT&T Connecticut President Rodney Smith said Tuesday enhancements include activation of new cell sites or towers to improve network coverage, deploying faster connections to enable 4G speeds, and adding spectrum capacity to support additional traffic.

“The ongoing investment we’re making across Connecticut is designed to increase 4G coverage, reliability and speed,’’ Smith said in a statement.
