Attorney General shakes up environment division

Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen on Tuesday swapped out the leadership of his Environmental Department, replacing the head who ran the division for 18 years.

Assistant Attorney General Kimberly Massicotte, who had served as environment department head since 1997, had been named the new associate attorney general for litigation, replacing the retiring Margaret Chapple.

Massicotte, a 27-year veteran of the attorney general’s office, is a graduate of the Western New England College School of Law and will start her new duties April 1.

Replacing Massicotte as environment department head will be Assistant Attorney General Matthew Levine, who joined the office in 1996 after graduating the Quinnipiac University School of Law. He has worked with the environment department since 1999, focusing on enforcement litigation with the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection.

Finally, Assistant Attorney General Linsley Barbato will take over the Torts/Civil Rights Department, replacing the retiring Matie Barainca. Barbato graduated the UConn School of Law and joined the attorney general’s office in 1994.
