AT&T, TheaterWorks open parking curtain

AT&T and its downtown Hartford neighbor TheaterWorks have worked out a deal in which playhouse patrons to will have access to a rear AT&T parking lot during performances.

The telecom giant’s Connecticut President John Emra, TheaterWorks’ Producing Artistic Director Rob Ruggiero and Hartford Mayor Pedro E. Segarra were due to formally announce the licensing agreement for the 60-vehicle surface lot directly behind TheaterWorks’ City Arts on Pearl building, 233 Pearl St., at 3:30 p.m. today, said AT&T spokesman Chuck Coursey.

Terms of the deal weren’t announced. While noting that AT&T continues to own the lot, Coursey referred those and other queries to TheaterWorks, which didn’t immediately respond.

The lot at one time provided parking for AT&T’s predecessor, Southern New England Telephone. AT&T operates a telecomm switching-service center at the corner of Trumbull and Pearl Streets.
