AT&T invests $140 million in CT networks

Telecommunications provider AT&T has invested $140 million in Connecticut networks in 2013, the company announced.

The $140 million investment comes after AT&T and other broadband providers said investment in Connecticut’s infrastructure could cool if the state did not pass a law saying it didn’t consider broadband on par with other regulated utilities. The measure did not pass.

The investment supports the expansion of the company’s 4G LTE network in Hartford, New Haven, Litchfield, Waterbury, New Haven, and New London County. AT&T also launched a distributed antenna system at Yale Medical School.

The project is part of AT&T’s three-year plan to expand its broadband networks in the state.
