AT&T will hire more than 80 additional Connecticut technicians to oversee ongoing expansion of its U-verse communications grid in the state, authorities said.
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy joined AT&T officials in New Haven Tuesday afternoon for the jobs announcement, which also included airing of plans to upgrade or erect cell sites.
“I commend AT&T for continuing to grow jobs here in Connecticut,” Â Malloy said in a statement. “These are 21st century technical jobs that provide competitive wages and benefits that are among the best in the telecommunications industry.”
AT&T did not provide a timetable for when the new hirings will begin.
AT&T currently employs 5,400 people in the state.
