ATMI Inc.’s revenue and profits fell 3.7 percent and 17.5 percent, respectively, in its second fiscal quarter, it reported.
The Danbury semiconductor materials and microelectronics manufacturer posted profits of $9.4 million on revenue of $102 million.
“Our second quarter results reflect a mixed demand environment in microelectronics and continued momentum in life sciences, resulting in revenues that are up sequentially but lower than last year,” CEO Doug Neugold said in a statement. “Within microelectronics, we view the market as generally tepid. Leading edge foundries continue to be strong, while there were meaningful wafer start declines in the logic space, which impact certain of our product lines.”
The company’s life sciences division was a bright spot, posting record revenue of $11.9 million, 7 percent ahead of the second quarter last year.
