Athletic Brewing among 40 CT companies on Inc. magazine’s top 5,000 list

Forty Connecticut companies made Inc. magazine’s list of the top 5,000 fastest-growing companies in the United States for 2022. 

That includes dozens in the Greater Hartford and New Haven regions.

Stratford-based Athletic Brewing Co., which produces alcohol-free craft beer, ranked 26th in the nation through its 13,071% growth. 

It was the only company in the Nutmeg State to rank in the top 100.

Athletic Brewing was the second fastest-growing food and beverage company in the nation, after sugar-free snack company HighKey in Orlando (5th), which saw 41,585% growth.

Athletic Brewing was not on the list last year. Shelton-based energy company Buddefly was Connecticut’s fastest-growing company in 2021, ranking 10th. It dropped to 641th place this year.

Two other Connecticut companies broke the top 200: Point Pickup, a software company, and SponsorUnited, an advertising and marketing company, both based in Stamford. They saw more than 3,000% growth, according to Inc.

Three Hartford businesses made the list, with IT company Hybrid Pathways coming in 917th with 695% growth. In addition, CompassMSP ranked 1,095th and Choice Merchant Solutions ranked 1,876th.

Three New Haven companies were on the list: advertising and marketing firm Newor Media (1,619th), Jumo Health (1,891st) and software company MNDTRST (3,195th).

Cheshire-based Rebel Interactive Group, which recently opened a new headquarters, ranked 2,019th with 297% growth. In 2021, Rebel ranked 1,842nd. It recorded slightly less growth, at 247%, in 2022.

The list also includes Bloomfield-based health services provider Soma Tech International (283th) and Synergy Fire Systems in Bristol (762nd).

Near the bottom of the list was Monroe-based Church Hill Classics (4,980th) with 81% growth. The consumer products company manufactures diploma and award frames.

The fastest-growing business in the U.S. in 2022 was cryptocurrency company BlockFi in Jersey City, New Jersey, according to Inc. It experienced 245,616% growth.

To be eligible for the list, companies must be U.S.-based, privately held and for-profit (not subsidiaries or divisions) as of Dec. 31, 2021. They must also have recorded minimum revenues of $100,000 in 2018 and $2 million in 2021.
