Association names Renner its Executive of the Year

Arthur Renner, executive director of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, has been named Executive of the Year by the Connecticut Society of Association Executives.

Renner has been executive director of the CPOA group for the past 16 years. During his tenure, the association has grown to 6,000 members, 75 percent of all certified public accountants in Connecticut. Under his leadership, the association has moved its offices from Hartford to Rocky Hill.

Renner has placed an increased importance on attaining membership from new and young professionals. Holding various seminars and events that young professionals can attend while creating social networks has become a valuable attraction for CPA’s who are looking to get involved in the association.

CSAE is the association for not-for-profit professionals who work for associations, societies, and nonprofit organizations that are headquartered in Connecticut. It is based in Marlborough.

Neri to lead Foundation

The Main Street Community Foundation in Bristol recently elected Janis L. Neri as its chairman for a two-year term. Other elected officers are John A. Letizia, vice chair; Robert M. Caiaze, secretary; and John D. Scarritt, treasurer.

Newly elected board members are:

• David Aldieri of Bristol, a certified appraiser and licensed real estate agent who is an owner of Aldieri Associates, Inc. located in Bristol.

• Todd Burton of Wolcott, the assistant vice president and regional manager for Thomaston Savings Bank.

• Kristine Dargenio of Plainville, the marketing coordinator for Kaestle Boos Associates in New Britain.

• Jeffrey Sonenstein of Burlington, the president of Globe Travel Service in Bristol.

The board of directors also reelected Marguerite P. Fletcher of Bristol and Anita Hamzy of Plymouth to board terms expiring in 2016.

The community foundation serves the towns of Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott by enhancing the quality of life of the residents through donor-driven philanthropy.

Banker on Easter Seals Board

Kellie Jandreau, Webster Bank’s market manager for Waterbury and a vice president personal banking, has been named a member of the Board of Directors of the Easter Seals of Greater Waterbury. Jandreau recently celebrated her 20th year with Webster. She oversees 15 branches in the Greater Waterbury.

Cyr leads PR group

Danielle M. Cyr, director of social media for Co-Communications, has been elected to lead the Connecticut Valley Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America as board president. Co-Communications is headquartered in Mount Kisco, N.Y., with satellite offices in Farmington and in New York City.

Lawyer joins Stowe Board

Virginia E. McGarrity, a lawyer at Robinson & Cole LLP in Hartford, has been elected to a three-year term on the Board of Trustees at the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center. McGarrity is a member of the firm’s Employee Benefits and Compensation Practice Group.
