Artist purchases West Haven space for studio

An artist whose medium is glass has purchased property in West Haven to use for creating sculptures.

Christine Barney recently purchased two units at 375 Morgan Lane, West Haven, for $164,000, according to an announcement.

The units total 2,560 square feet. Barney has been active as an artist for decades, and her work has been featured in museums, galleries and expositions around the world, in private collections and in multiple publications.  She plans to use part of the newly-acquired space to create her unique and colorful glass sculptures.

According to her website, she has created artwork through glassblowing, via furnace-formed solid sculptures and through cast glass sculpture.

Barney said her studio will be in Unit 402, while Unit 401 houses The Institute of Martial Arts – Tang Soo Do.

“My decision to purchase the two commercial condo units was based on the location, ease of access and excellent overall condition and maintenance of the condo complex,” Barney said. “West Haven is a diverse, welcoming community with a growing base for tourism and recreation. I am pleased to become part of this unique community.”

The seller was John D’Amato and the LAD Trust.

Cheryl Morris of The Geenty Group Realtors in Branford was the sole agent in the transaction.
