An Aroma Joe’s quick service coffee shop could be coming to Southington’s Queen Street commercial area.
Bristol-based Java Junction LLC is applying to the town Planning and Zoning Commission to build and operate a small coffee shop at 279 Queen St., on property owned by Southington-based 279 Queen Street LLC.
Aroma Joe’s, founded in 2000, is a popular New England coffee shop franchise, serving coffee drinks and food.
This would be the third location in Connecticut, in addition to Bristol and Waterbury sites. Most Aroma Joe’s locations are clustered in New Hampshire and Maine, with some locations throughout New England and New York. The company has also expanded into Pennsylvania and Florida.
An 870-square-foot building currently on the property, formerly a Rita’s Italian ice and frozen custard store, would be demolished to make way for the new 1,000-square-foot signature Aroma Joe’s structure.
Owners bought the property for $420,000 in July 2021, according to town property records.
