Arcor Laser building Suffield facility

Windsor-based Arcor Laser Services broke ground in Suffield Friday on a new 12,000-square-foot headquarters.

Arcor President Gary Francoeur said the new facility, at the intersection of Spencer Street/Route 75 and Kenny Roberts Memorial Drive, will centralize production, administrative offices, shipping/receiving and warehouse, as well as provide a separate assembly area for sensitive medical devices.

Construction is due to be completed in October, at which point the company will begin to vacate its Windsor facility.

Arcor, which offers laser cutting and welding services, needs the extra space because it has grown, especially in the medical device arena, Francoeur said. It employs 27.

“Arcor has expanded rapidly over the past few years, and we’ve outgrown our current site,” he said. “This move will allow us to double our manufacturing space, and we are looking forward to bringing a first-class operation to Suffield.”

Francoeur said the six-year-old company chose the Suffield site because of its proximity to Bradley International Airport, giving it access to key shipping partners like UPS and FedEx.

He said Arcor held up well during the recession because of strong demand in its medical device line of business.
