Arch spending $30M on Tenn. plant upgrade

Norwalk-based Arch Chemicals will invest $30 million in new technology at a Tennessee plant for making a key ingredient in its HTH brand of swimming pools and spa sanitizers.

Arch’s two-year upgrade at its Charleston, Tenn., facility will provide more efficient technology for drying slurries of calcium hypochlorite into tablets, granules and other easy-to-handle forms, said Luis Fernandez-Moreno, executive vice president of Arch’s HTH Water Products division.

The company says it recently deployed similar drying technology at its South African plant.
