Arch Chemicals Inc. in Norwalk said new markets for its biocides and other chemicals, plus select price increases, helped push up sales and profits for the fourth quarter and full year.
Arch earned $5.1 million, or 20 cents a share, on $311.7 million in sales for the three months ended Dec. 31. That was increase from $3.1 million, or 12 cents a share, earned in $293.4 million in sales for the same period in 2009.
For 2010, the chemical maker earned a net $70.7 million, or $2.80 a share, up from $47.1 million, or $1.88 a share, earned in 2009.
Sales last year reached $1.4 billion vs. $1.2 billion in 2009.
