Arch Chemicals Inc. in Norwalk reported a fourth-quarter profit on Thursday, rebounding from a year-earlier loss, as sales and demand improved, Reuters reports.
For the period, the company posted net income of $2.7 million, or 11 cents per share, compared with a loss of $18.9 million, or 75 cents per share, in the year-ago period, Reuters reported.
Analysts had expected a loss of 4 cents per share, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Sales rose 8.5 percent to $333.5 million. Analysts had expected $313.9 million.
For the first quarter, the company expects earnings of break-even to 10 cents per share. Analysts expect earnings of 11 cents per share.
For all of 2010, Arch expects earnings per share of $1.90 to $2.10. Analysts expect earnings of $1.93 per share for the year.
