Connecticut regulators have approved a 2.3 percent rate increase for Bridgeport-based Aquarion Water Co.
The state Department of Public Utility Control gave final approval to the rate increase request for the company that serves 36 towns and cities in Connecticut. Most of its customers are in Fairfield county, and some are in Simsbury and Stonington.
The rate approval will increase the company’s revenue by just over $3 million. The company, which also increased rates last December, asked for another increase in March for repairing and upgrading dams and treatment plants.
In December, the company imposed rate increases ranging from 11 percent in the southern division, which covers the Greenwich and Mystic areas, to 33 percent in the western division, which supplies Stamford and neighboring towns. (AP)
