Bridgeport utility Aquarion Water Co. announced Wednesday it completed the purchase of its fifth water system in New Fairfield.
The acquisition of the Durham Pond Condominiums water system adds 108 residents to Aquarion’s service territory that now numbers 1,500 in New Fairfield.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
The Durham purchase comes after Aquarion bought four New Fairfield water companies in 2011 from Rural Water Co., Inc. and Black Systems.
The New Fairfield acquisitions are part of Aquarion’s strategic growth initiative, designed to improve the availability of water in New England. In this quarter alone, Aquarion completed acquisitions of three other water systems in Brookfield, Mansfield, and Suffield.
The company provides water for 625,000 people in 47 Connecticut municipalities.
