April import prices increase

The U.S. Import Price Index increased 1.8 percent in April, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

For the second consecutive month, higher prices for both petroleum and non-petroleum imports contributed to the increase.

April’s rise followed a 2.9 percent increase in March. Export prices also increased in April, rising 0.3 percent after advancing at least 1 percent in each of the previous three months.
