Greater Hartford’s used house and condo sales languished in April as the local housing market continues struggling to maintain saleable inventory, Realtors say.
Existing single-family home sales fell again last month, to 920 units, down 2.9 percent from 947 units sold the same month last year, atop a 2.7 decline in March, the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors (GHAR) said Friday.
Median price for those sold April homes was flat at $226,000 vs. $225,000 a year ago.
Area condo sales fell 2.7 percent in April, to 214 units — six fewer than were sold the same month in 2018, GHAR said. Hartford area condo sales surged neary 11 percent in March.
Condos’ April median price eased 1.8 percent to $137,500 from $140,000.
Inventory for used houses and condos fell, but the drop was more pronounced among condos.
Meantime, new sales listings of houses rose a meager 1.4 percent last month, while new condo listings fell 2.3 percent, GHAR said.
