• The Jewish Community Foundation in West Hartford awarded $200,000 to the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford to support core operations; $100,000 to the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford for programs with the Mandell Jewish Community Center; and $30,000 to the Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford.

• The Salvation Army received record donations from the 18th annual WTIC 1080 holiday store including $174,146.73 in cash donations, $62,690 in new toys and 5,603 cans of food.

• Baker’s Country Furniture in Stafford celebrates its 200th anniversary in 2008. Founded in 1808, the business is one of the oldest continuously operating furniture stores in the country.

• Response in New Haven was named Marketer Of The Year from the Connecticut chapter of the American Marketing Association. The company also received awards for Web/interactive, integrated campaign, and collateral/print advertising campaigns.
