The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection is accepting applications through Feb. 2 for its annual state forest firewood lottery.
Standing trees and downed wood residual from storms and timber harvests will be sold to the winners for $60.
The lottery is designed to give businesses and homeowners an opportunity to use a renewable, affordable, and locally grown heating fuel source. Firewood can be harvested from state forests only with a permit.
Applications are available via the DEEP website.
