Restaurant group signs 15-year lease for new Stamford waterfront eatery

The operator of two Darien restaurants plans to open a waterfront eatery in Stamford’s Harbor Point neighborhood.

Antonio’s Restaurant Group, which operates Antonio’s Italian Bistro and Zucchero Café, has signed a 15-year lease for more than 6,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space at 46 Southfield Ave., according to Harbor Point developer Building and Land Technology.

The year-round restaurant, called Ocean 46, will replace the Crab Shell Restaurant, which closed in November 2025 after 36 years in business. Ocean 46 will feature seafood, steaks, burgers, pasta, Italian-inspired dishes and cocktails, along with indoor and outdoor bars and harborfront dining.

Antonio’s Restaurant Group owner Antonio Sandolo said the company wants to make Ocean 46 “a true neighborhood destination.”

The deal comes amid turnover in Harbor Point’s restaurant scene. Fortina recently closed after more than a decade in Stamford, while Mexicue shuttered after operating in the neighborhood for about seven years. Together with the Crab Shell, the three restaurants closed within the past year.

An opening date for Ocean 46 has not been announced.
