Anthem’s new facility LEED certified

The new facility of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Connecticut will be LEED registered and feature new green amenities meant to improve employee working conditions.

The 300,000 sq. ft. office building in Wallingford is registered under the U.S. Green Building Council LEED program, which serves as an indication of environmentally friendly buildings.

In addition to sustainable technologies, the new building will have expansive window lines with abundant natural light; under floor power, voice and data distribution with plug-and-play capability; and under floor air distribution to promote better indoor air quality.

The move from the company’s headquarters in North Haven to Wallingford was announced Tuesday and will begin in 2011
