Customers of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, which had unsuccessfully asked regulators to approve a rate increase for its individual insurance plans, will actually see a slight decrease come Jan. 1, the Insurance Department announced.
Insurance regulators last month disapproved Anthem’s requested rate increases averaging 12.5 percent. They have since approved new pricing that averages out to a decrease of 0.1 percent, the department said.
Across Anthem’s various plans, rate decreases will be as high as 15.5 percent and increases will be a maximum of 4.2 percent.
Varying Anthem plans will be offered both on and off the state’s insurance exchange, Access Health CT.
