Hamden medical insurer Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield renewed its agreements with Manchester Memorial Hospital and Rockville General Hospital, avoiding any lapses in coverage from the previous agreement expiring Saturday.
Details of the new contract were not released. The agreement will start immediately after the current one expires, without interruption.
The Eastern Connecticut Health Network — the not-for-profit health care system operating the Manchester and Rockville hospitals — agreed to have the hospitals participate in Anthem’s hospital incentive program designed to measure and improve health care quality and patient safety.
The agreement with Anthem solves part of what has been a rocky year of contract disputes for ECHN. The network previously failed to come to a new contract agreement with UnitedHealthcare/Oxford Health Plans. Meanwhile, the Eastern Connecticut Physicians Hospital Organization, which is ECHN’s community physicians practice, is also in contract negotiations with Connecticare.
